The Committee reviewed the recommendation of the University of Mississippi officials on Wednesday evening after a thorough analysis of the previous survey Ole Missstudents, faculty, staff, alumni and season ticket holders. The survey found that 62 percent of respondents support Black Rebel Bear. Rebel Land Shark drew support by 56 percent, and Hotty Toddy drew 42 percent.
“We have the Rebel Black Bear, because it was supported by the whole process and was a finalist of lead in the second round,” said Margaret Ann Morgan, co-chairman. “He has a connection to the Mississippi, is timeless, to attract children, is unique to the SEC and fits the characteristics of other in the initial phase of focus groups set up. Through this long process, we saw the love that people in the university have.
